A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Start with the background: color the distant hills with sky blue, and the hill on the left with light green and forest green.
2. 2Fill the shepherd's robe with terracotta red, and the front panel and lower skirt with wheat cream.
3. 3Color the face, hands, arms and bare feet with peach skin, leaving the eye whites white.
4. 4Color the staff and headwrap band with dark brown, the belt with tan brown, and the beard and hair with pale gray.
5. 5Fill the lamb's woolly body with ivory cream, its legs with pale beige, and add a little pale pink on its cheek.
6. 6Color the burning bush flames with golden yellow and add orange tongues, then finish with stone gray rocks and light green grass. Optional: add a soft shadow of pale beige under the robe.
