Fox Cub Surrounded by Ferns in Advanced Designs
Coloring guide
This smiling fox cub sits up straight in the center of the page. It has big round eyes, tall pointed ears and a fluffy chest. The bushy tail wraps around the front and ends in a zigzag tip, which is a nice spot to try a different color. Two leafy fern fronds rise behind the fox, one on each side. At the bottom corners you'll find two spotted mushrooms, plus a smaller one next to the left mushroom, along with a few grass tufts and a tiny sprout. Lines are clean and shapes are medium-sized, so there's detail without feeling crowded. Orange fur, a white tail tip and a different green for each fern leaf would look great. It's a free printable that suits a quiet afternoon or a classroom nature unit. Looking for more? Our Hard / Detailed and Mandala coloring pages pair nicely with this Advanced Designs page.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the fox's head, body, chest, and tail with fox orange, leaving the cream ear insides and tail tip for later.
- 2Color the inside of both ears, the tail tip, and the mushroom stems with cream.
- 3Fill the three mushroom caps with bright red, then leave the small white dots on the caps uncolored.
- 4Color the ferns with leaf green, and add a few sage green touches to the grass and small leaves at the bottom.
- 5Use light gray for the soft shadow behind the ferns and charcoal gray for the small shaded area near the fox's chest.
- 6Optional: Use chocolate brown on the paws and leave the eye whites, nose highlights, and background white.
