This sleepy peacock has its head tucked down against its wing, eyes gently closed with long lashes and its small beak resting on its chest. Four round-tipped feathers make a little crown on top. The big, curved tail feathers sweep around the front, each one drawn with swirly eye patterns and lots of open space inside. Up in the night sky, a large crescent moon and three small stars hover above the bird, and tufts of grass sit in the bottom corners and on the right side. Thick, clean outlines make it an easy choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and it prints nicely as a free PDF. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the peacock's chest and head area in royal blue, leaving the closed eye lines as dark outlines.
- 2Fill the folded wing in sky blue and the back of the body in steel blue to add depth behind the chest.
- 3Color the tail feathers in forest green, emerald green, teal green, grass green and leaf green, mixing them around the fan.
- 4Fill the rings of each tail eye in golden yellow, then color the inner circles in bright blue, leaving the small centers white. Color the bottom right eye in pale blue and the top right eye tip in warm brown.
- 5Color the crest balls, the four stars and the stars in the sky in golden yellow, leaving the thin crest stems white.
