Sleepy Hedgehog Curled Up on Fall Leaves

Coloring guide
A little hedgehog is sound asleep on this cozy page, rolled into a round ball with its eyes gently closed and a small smile. Its tiny paws are tucked under its chin, and round ears peek out of the fluffy, spiky fur that wraps all the way around. It rests on a pile of large leaves, while two more leaves, one oak-style and one maple-style, drift down in the corners. The spiky edge means lots of short strokes to color, and the leaves give big, easy spaces for small hands. Warm browns and tan work for the fur. Red, orange and golden yellow on the leaves bring in a real fall feel. Print it free for quiet time at home or a seasonal classroom project. This fits right in with our Hedgehog coloring pages — see also Puppies and Cats.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the spiky back and head of the hedgehog with medium brown, including the spines around the top and the ear area.
- 2Fill the hedgehog's face and both paws with light beige, leaving the closed eyes as simple dark lines.
- 3Color the inner part of the left ear with soft pink.
- 4Color the top left leaf, the center leaf, the small left leaf and the bottom right leaf with golden yellow.
- 5Color the bottom left leaf, the left leaf, the right leaf and the small bottom right leaf with orange.
- 6Use dark chocolate for the shadowy spot at the bottom of the hedgehog's body, then leave the background white. Optional: Add a few extra lines of medium brown on the spines for a fluffy look.
