Sweet Baby Hedgehog Beside a Little Flower

Coloring guide
This baby hedgehog sits up straight in profile and looks off to the right, with big round eyes and a sweet smile. Bold, jagged spikes sweep up and over its back, and a round ear with an inner circle sits near the top of its head. The belly and chest are soft and fluffy, and you can spot the small front paws and rounded feet at the bottom. On the right grows one five-petal flower with a round center, and a few grass tufts fill the bottom corners. Thick outlines and large open areas make it a nice fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on pencil control. Browns and tans suit the spikes, with soft pink for the flower and green for the grass. Print it free as a PDF for a quiet afternoon or a classroom nature unit. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the hedgehog's spiky body, back and face area with chestnut brown, going around the eye and the pink ear area.
- 2Fill the big round back haunch, the front leg and both paws with pale tan, leaving the outlines clear.
- 3Color the inner ear circle with soft pink.
- 4Fill all five flower petals with golden yellow, then color the center of the flower orange.
- 5Leave the eye white empty, and keep the background, grass and flower stem white. Optional: add a few darker brown strokes on the spikes for depth.
