Sleepy Seahorse Drifting With Stars and Seaweed

Coloring guide
Eyes closed with long lashes and a gentle smile, this seahorse floats upright in the middle of the page, its curly tail wrapped into a tight spiral at the bottom. Neat horizontal bands mark the belly, and a scalloped crest runs down the back of its head and neck. A fan-shaped fin with ruffled lines sits on its side. Behind it, a long wavy ribbon of seaweed rises beside the snout, and leafy plants sprout from the bottom edge. Round bubbles of different sizes and five small stars are scattered around the edges, leaving plenty of open space. The belly bands and fin lines are great for practicing small, careful strokes, while the big areas are easier for younger kids. Coral orange on the body, teal seaweed and bright yellow stars would make a cozy night-sea mix. It's free to print or download for a classroom project or weekend craft. Looking for more? A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- lemon yellow
- olive green
- pumpkin orange
- forest green
- coral orange
- sky blue
- marigold
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the big body and head of the seahorse with lemon yellow, leaving the small highlight in the tail center white.
- 2Color the stripes along the body, the side fin, the back ridge bumps and the starfish with pumpkin orange.
- 3Fill the top dorsal fin and the small edge of the side fin with coral orange for a warmer accent.
- 4Use olive green for the tall seaweed strand and the bottom stalk, then add forest green to the lower leaf and the leaf base at the bottom.
- 5Color the bubbles with sky blue and add marigold to the inner curl of the tail for a golden glow.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of pumpkin orange along one side of the seaweed and the tail to suggest shading, and leave the background white.
