Cheerful Little Elephant Among the Grass

Coloring guide
This baby elephant faces you head on with a big smile. Its trunk curls up at the tip, and its round eyes have little sparkles in them. The two large ears frame the head, and a small curl of hair sits on top. Look down and you'll see chunky legs with toenails on every foot, plus a tail that ends in a tuft. A clump of grass sits on each side, and the rest of the page is left plain white. Bold, clean lines and big open spaces make this free printable easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids who are still getting a feel for crayons. Soft blue-gray works nicely for the body, with pale pink inside the ears and bright greens for the grass. Good for quiet time, a classroom station, or a rainy afternoon. Kids who like Elephant coloring pages usually enjoy Wolves and Lion too.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big elephant head, body, and legs in sky blue, leaving the gap between the front legs white.
- 2Color both large ears and the inside of the mouth in soft pink.
- 3Fill the tail tuft with charcoal gray and carry the sky blue up into the thin tail base.
- 4Color the toenails on all four feet in pale cream so they stand out against the blue legs.
- 5Leave the eye whites and pupils white, and keep the empty background around the grass blank.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra sky blue shading on the sides of the body and legs to make the elephant look rounder.
