Fruit Pals Waving Under a Smiling Sun

Standing in a row on a grassy patch are an apple, a banana, an orange and a strawberry, each with a big smile, sparkly eyes and little legs ending in round shoes. The apple and strawberry are both waving. The apple wears a leaf and a short stem on top, the banana stands tall in the middle, and the orange has a leaf and tiny dots for peel texture. A smiling sun with triangle rays beams from above, and tufts of grass cover the ground. Big shapes and bold, clean outlines make this easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or chunky markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the apple body, its waving hand, and the strawberry body and its waving hand with bright red, leaving the eye whites and the background white.
- 2Color the sun face and the banana body with lemon yellow, then add golden yellow along the left side of the banana.
- 3Paint the orange body and all the sun rays with tangerine orange, keeping the little seed dots on the orange white.
- 4Color the apple stem, apple legs, and orange stem with chocolate brown, then fill the leaves, the strawberry top, and the strawberry legs and feet with leaf green.
- 5Add coral pink to the smiles on the apple, orange, banana, and sun, and use deep red inside the strawberry smile. Finish the feet of the apple, banana, and orange as shown.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the fruits to make them look rounder.
