Picnic Watermelon Fruit Half and Slice

Coloring guide
On a checkered picnic cloth sit a cheerful watermelon half with big sparkly eyes and an open smile, and next to it a smaller triangular slice with a happy face of its own. Seeds are scattered over the flat tops of both, and wavy stripes curve down the rind. A tall glass of juice with a striped straw stands behind them. Big shapes and clear outlines make this a friendly choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on pencil control. Red or pink for the juicy part, deep green for the rind stripes, and a red-and-white or blue-and-white pattern for the cloth all work well. - 1Color the juicy red flesh of the big watermelon half and the triangle slice with coral red, leaving the seed shapes and tiny eye shines white.
- 2Fill the round body of the watermelon half and the rind stripes with bright green, then add dark green along the left and right edges for shading.
- 3Use light green for the thin rim under the top of the watermelon half and the bottom edge of the slice.
- 4Color the glass top with sky blue, fill the juice inside with coral red, and leave the striped straw white.
- 5Use blush pink for the tablecloth corner, coral red for the checkered squares, and keep the white squares blank. Finish with hot pink tongues on both faces.
- 6Optional: add a little darker coral red along the bottom edges of the slice and the glass for a bit of depth.
