Strawberry Fruit Plant by a Picket Fence

Coloring guide
Three plump strawberries dangle from curved stems in this little garden scene, each covered in tiny oval seeds and topped with a leafy green cap. Above them you'll find two open blossoms with dotted centers and one small bud, tucked among big jagged leaves with detailed veins. A short picket fence with round holes in the boards stands behind, and the plant grows out of a mound of soil with a few pebbles and grass tufts on both sides. All those seeds and veins mean plenty of tiny spaces to fill, so it works for young colorers and older kids who enjoy detail. Red berries, yellow seed dots and fresh greens for the leaves look great together. Print it at home or use it for a classroom garden lesson, it's free. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big strawberries: color the three strawberry bodies strawberry red, leaving the small white seeds dotted across them.
- 2Fill the large leaves at the bottom and sides, plus the top leaf and middle leaf, with grass green, keeping the leaf veins as light lines.
- 3Color the green leafy caps on top of each strawberry with grass green, and add sage green to the lower stems.
- 4Paint the fence posts and rails warm tan, and fill the soil mound and bottom corners with dark ochre for a cozy garden base.
- 5Color the flower centers sunny yellow and leave the flower petals, stems and flower bud white so they stand out.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker red on the shaded side of each strawberry for depth.
