This happy parrot has a big curved beak and a wide-open smile. It grips a thick branch with its toes while its long tail feathers hang straight down. Layered, scallop-shaped feathers cover the wings, and a small crest sits on its head. Large split monstera leaves, slender pointed leaves and one big hibiscus with a long, dot-tipped stamen surround the bird. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the parrot's body and chest in bright red, leaving the small gaps between feathers white.
- 2Color the wings and long tail: use sky blue on the upper wings, golden yellow on the middle wing feathers, and royal blue on the tail feathers.
- 3Fill the hibiscus flower with bright red, then color the big leaves and smaller leaves in grass green and forest green.
- 4Paint the face yellow, the beak orange and tangerine, and the branch and feet in brown and orange, keeping the eye whites and leaf highlights white.
- 5Optional: add a darker shade of each color along one side of the feathers and leaves to give them some depth.
