Happy Peacock Meadow with Butterflies and a Sun

Coloring guide
A cheerful peacock stands facing forward in a grassy meadow with its big tail fanned out behind it, the rounded feathers decorated with oval eye patterns. It wears a little crown of feathers, has a happy open beak and keeps one wing tucked against its side. Overhead, three smiling butterflies with spotted wings flutter by, and a grinning sun with pointed rays shines in the corner beside a few puffy clouds. Flowers and grass tufts run along the bottom, and small bushes sit behind the tail. Thick, clear outlines and roomy shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the feather circles are fun to fill in. Why not color each ring of the tail a different shade, like teal, royal blue and green, for a rainbow effect? Easy to print at home or in the classroom, and free. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big green fan feathers: fill the large feathers on both sides of the peacock with leaf green, leaving the white eye-shaped rings and the white crest plume tips untouched.
- 2Color the peacock's body and head with royal blue, and fill the neck feathers and lower wings with teal and ocean blue for a layered look.
- 3Paint the sun with orange on its spiky rays and golden yellow on the beak and a few fan eyespots, keeping the round face white with its black eyes.
- 4Fill the eyespots on the fan with deep blue centers, royal blue rings, and golden yellow accents, adding bright blue to the lower eyespots.
- 5Color the butterflies with pink wings and purple tips on the outer edges, and paint the clouds light blue and the bushes and grass lime green.
- 6Optional: add a few lines of lighter or darker shading inside the feathers and wings to give the peacock some depth.
