Saint Bernard Puppy with a Barrel in Snowy Mountains

Front and center sits a fluffy Saint Bernard with its tongue out and a big happy grin, a little wooden barrel hanging from its collar. Behind the dog, a large mountain peak towers over snowy rolling hills, with a snow-covered pine on each side. Floppy ears, round eyes, a heart-shaped nose and thick fur on the chest and paws give lots to color. Bold, clean lines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids still building pencil control. Reddish-brown patches on the ears and face, a creamy white muzzle and chest, and tan wood tones with darker bands on the barrel look lovely. Leave the hills white or add a soft icy blue. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the mountains and the sky behind them in sky blue, leaving the snowy peak at the top white.
- 2Fill the dog's ears and the patches around its head in reddish brown, and the back haunch and lower leg in burnt orange.
- 3Color the fir trees in forest green, leaving the snowy tips and snow patches on the branches white.
- 4Add the barrel in caramel tan, the straps and handle in charcoal gray, and the collar in bright red.
- 5Color the nose dark brown, the tongue coral pink, and the dog's chest, belly and paws cream white or leave them lightly tinted.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade along the edges of the barrel and the dog's ears for depth.
