Sea Turtle and Little Fish for Earth Day

With its head turned back and a big smile, a happy baby sea turtle glides through the water, round eyes full of sparkle. Large honeycomb-style plates make up the shell, and the flippers and head carry spotted patterns that are fun to fill in. Three small striped fish swim nearby, at the upper left, upper right and lower right. Round bubbles of different sizes drift up the page. Down at the bottom, tall wavy seaweed grows on both sides, and the seafloor has small rocks, a sandy mound and a starfish. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the turtle's shell: fill the plates with brown, leaving the thin white lines between them, and color the golden rim around the edge.
- 2Color the turtle's head, neck, and flippers in light green, then add darker grass green and forest green spots on the flippers and head, leaving the eye whites white.
- 3Fill the turtle's belly with cream and the golden yellow edges where the shell meets the body.
- 4Color the little fish: lemon yellow with olive stripes and bright blue fins on the top left, bright orange with white stripes on the top right, and the clownfish in brown and amber with white stripes and bright orange tail.
- 5Add the seaweed in grass green, the rocks in light gray, and the starfish in coral red with small white dots, then finish with sky blue bubbles.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along the shell edges and under the flippers to make the turtle look rounder.
