In the middle of this underwater picture floats a big whale with a wide smile and a round, sparkly eye, shooting a fountain of water from its blowhole. Its tail curls up on the left, and the belly has simple curved stripes. Four small striped fish swim nearby and bubbles of all sizes drift past. Wavy lines along the top show the surface of the sea. Down on the sandy bottom, a smiling starfish with dotted arms sits between two clumps of coral and a few rounded rocks. Bold lines and roomy spaces make this free printable good for preschoolers and early elementary kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big whale body and its flipper with ocean blue, leaving the tail and the rounded head as one smooth shape.
- 2Fill the spout, the bubbles, and the small round bubbles around the scene with light sky blue.
- 3Paint the whale belly stripes, jaw, and the lower mouth area with pale blue, leaving the eye and its white shine untouched.
- 4Add the corals on both sides and near the bottom with coral pink, then color the two rocks with cool gray.
- 5Color the starfish with orange and the striped fish with bright yellow, golden yellow, soft pink, purple, leaf green, and orange as shown.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker blue shading along the underside of the whale for depth.
