Snail Resting on a Leaf Beneath a Rainbow
Coloring guide
In this sweet scene, a happy snail with big sparkly eyes and a curvy smile rests on a large leaf. Its round shell has a bold spiral in the middle that little hands will enjoy tracing with a crayon. Above, a multi-band rainbow stretches between two puffy clouds, and four raindrops fall around the edges. Two small flowers with round centers sit in the bottom corners next to the leaf. Large shapes and clean lines make it a good choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids still building pencil control. Warm orange and yellow stripes along the shell spiral look nice, with soft greens for the leaf and light blue for the raindrops. Print it free for a rainy afternoon or a spring classroom activity. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the snail shell in caramel brown, leaving the inner spiral lines uncolored or outlined in black for definition.
- 2Fill the snail body in lemon yellow, then color the large leaf underneath in leaf green, keeping the leaf veins as white lines.
- 3Color the rainbow arc stripes from the outside in: tomato red, orange, lemon yellow, then sky blue, and fill the two clouds in baby blue.
- 4Add the raindrops in azure blue, then color the two flowers with hot pink petals and lemon yellow centers, and the flower leaves in leaf green.
- 5Color the antenna tips in lemon yellow and the leaf stem in leaf green, leaving the flower stem white.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a darker shade of each color near the edges of the shell and leaf to make the drawing feel more dimensional.
