Squirrel Up a Ladder Picking Apples, Calico Critters Page

Up on tiptoe at the top of a wooden stepladder, a cheerful squirrel with a big fluffy tail stretches one paw toward a large apple hanging from a branch. Its ears are perked, its eyes are bright and it has a happy open-mouth smile. More apples and leafy branches fill the top of the page, and the thick tree trunk curves down the right side. A woven basket in the bottom right corner already holds several apples, and small bushes and grass tufts sit around the ladder. Big shapes and clear lines work well for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the fur texture on the tail gives older children something extra to do. Use red and green for the apples, warm orange-brown for the squirrel and golden tan for the ladder and basket. Free to print, and a nice fit for autumn or an orchard theme. This fits right in with our Calico Critters coloring pages — see also Baby Shark and Pokémon.
