Standing Horse With Halter and Flowing Mane

Standing Horse With Halter and Flowing Mane coloring page

Coloring guide

A tall, graceful horse stands in profile facing right, its head held high and its ears pointed forward. It wears a simple rope halter across the nose and cheek. A long, wavy mane falls down the side of the neck, and the tail is lifted and curls at the end. Fine stippled shading shows the muscles in the chest, shoulder, and hindquarters, and there is darker shading under the belly near the back leg. The horse stands on a small patch of grass drawn with short strokes, with a plain white background around it. Try coloring it as a chestnut or bay, using lighter browns on the body and a darker shade for the mane and tail. The dotted shading is a good spot to practice soft, light pressure with pencils. It's also a nice way to talk about the parts of a horse, like the hoof, mane, and halter.
