Star Mandala with Moons and Shooting Stars

At the center of this round mandala sits a big five-pointed star with little rays around it, ringed by dotted circles. Going outward, the bands fill with tiny stars, crescent moons and small star shapes, and a wide outer ring is lined with larger stars and dots. A crescent moon sits in each top corner, and two shooting stars with long streaking tails head toward the middle. Starburst lines shine above and below the design, and small stars are scattered across the background. With so many small spaces, it makes a calm, focused activity for older kids, tweens or classroom quiet time. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the inner dark circle and the center area around the big star in royal blue, leaving the big center star for later.
- 2Fill the wide outer ring of the mandala and the middle stars with lavender, and color the thin ring around the center in sky blue.
- 3Color the big center star, the top and side large stars, and the crescent moons in golden yellow, leaving the thin white outlines as they are.
- 4Fill the orange stars around the mandala with warm orange and bright orange, and add coral orange to a few small stars near the ring.
- 5Add the shooting star trails and the small stars at the edges in plum purple, violet purple, and muted lavender, and touch up the small white-looking patches with pale gray.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the big shapes to make them pop.
