State of Hawaii 1959 Seal With Rope Border

State of Hawaii 1959 Seal With Rope Border coloring sheet

Coloring guide

A round seal fills the page, framed by a twisted rope border. Across the top it reads STATE OF HAWAII with 1959 beneath, and along the bottom curve it says UA MAU KE EA O KA AINA I KA PONO, with dots between the words. Inside a beaded circle, a shield sits in the center with stripes, a star in a small center shield, and two tall poles topped with round knobs. Sun rays fan out behind it. A standing man in a crested helmet holds a spear on the left, and a woman holding a flag pole points outward on the right. Below the shield, a phoenix rises from flames, surrounded by leafy plants, and tall leafy branches curve up each side. Try coloring the stripes in different bold colors, then talk with kids about what the motto and the date mean. The big open shapes work well for markers, while the fine leaves suit colored pencils.
