Storytime Under a Heart-Shaped Tree

Coloring guide
Two children, a boy and a girl, sit cross-legged under a big heart-shaped tree and share an open book with a small heart on the cover. Dozens of little hearts hang from the leafy branches like ornaments, and a larger heart is carved into the trunk. A bunny sits on the left and a striped cat rests on the right, both close to the kids. The foreground is filled with flowers and leafy bushes, with butterflies fluttering on both sides. Farther back are a wooden fence, rolling hills, a small church, a pond with two ducks, fluffy clouds and a sunny sky. It's a cozy picture for quiet time and storytime. Soft pinks and reds for the hanging hearts and fresh greens for the leaves would look great. Print this sheet at home to add to your coloring pile. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big grassy areas and bushes in lime green, and the small leaf clusters on the tree in bright green, leaving the tree's leaf outlines and the sun white.
- 2Fill the heart-shaped patches hanging in the tree with leaf green, then color the tree trunk in bark brown, leaving the little heart on the trunk tan.
- 3Color the clouds and the pond in sky blue and pale blue, and add the distant hills in leaf green, keeping the sky background white.
- 4Paint the boy's hoodie and sleeves in royal blue, the girl's sweater in bubblegum pink, and the open book in tomato red, adding a tan heart on the cover.
- 5Color the jeans in ocean blue, the bunny in tan, and the cat in warm gray, leaving the cat's white chest untouched. Add the red heart at the top of the tree in tomato red.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading in a darker shade of each color on the tree trunk and jeans to make the drawing feel more dimensional.
