A grinning little turtle-like character rides a surfboard down the face of a giant curling wave. It has big sparkly eyes, an open smile, a fin-shaped crest on its head and a swirly spiral on its shell. The flippers are spread wide for balance, with little spots waiting for color. Foamy splashes and water droplets fly around it, and a second wave rolls along the bottom. In the sky, a sun with long rays shines over two gliding seagulls, and a calm horizon and a puffy cloud sit far off. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big turtle parts: color the head, body, both flippers and the feet in lime green.
- 2Fill the three fins on top of the head with deep green.
- 3Color the shell in chocolate brown, working around the spiral lines.
- 4Fill the belly plate and the lower body in pale butter yellow, then color the cheeks and open mouth in coral pink, leaving the eye whites white.
- 5Color the big curling wave and the sea in ocean blue, and the splashes, distant cloud and sun rays area in light sky blue; keep the foamy cloud top, sky and birds white.
- 6Finish the surfboard with golden yellow edges and a bright red center stripe, and color the sun in golden yellow. Optional: add a little darker shading under the shell and along the wave edges for depth.
