Swan Love on a Lily Pond

Coloring guide
Two graceful swans glide side by side across a calm pond. Their long necks curve inward until their beaks meet and make one big heart shape. Both have large friendly eyes with little lashes, and the wings are drawn in soft layers of feathers that are fun to color. Ripples spread out across the water. Up front there are two blooming water lilies on flat pads, with a few more pads floating close by. Cattail reeds and tall grass rise on both sides behind the swans, and rounded bushes line the far bank. Soft pinks and lavenders suit the lily petals, and bright green pads help the white swans stand out. The free PDF is ready to print for a rainy day or class time. This fits right in with our Love coloring pages — see also Christmas (Adult) and Friendship.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the lily pads and the green leaves of the reeds in leaf green, plus the bushes on both sides and between the swans' necks.
- 2Color the water in the gap between the swans' necks with sky blue, and add a small turquoise patch by the right lotus.
- 3Fill the lotus flowers with blush pink for the outer petals and rose pink for the inner petals, leaving the pale centers unpainted.
- 4Color the two cattails at the top of the reeds warm brown and give the beaks a tangerine orange color.
- 5Leave the swans' bodies, wings, and heads white, and keep the eye whites and the reed highlights white too.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker green or pink along the edges of the petals and pads to make them look more shaded.
