Perched on a thick tree branch, this cheerful toucan holds its big curved beak open with a small round berry caught right at the tip. It glances back over its shoulder with a large shiny eye. The wing is drawn in layered feathers, and a long tail dangles below the branch. Upper left, there is a big split-leaf monstera leaf, and around the bird you will see two hibiscus flowers with long stamens plus several broad veined leaves. The belly and beak give big open areas, while the feathers and petals offer smaller sections, so this free printable works for a range of ages. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big yellow head and beak: color the face area and the upper beak golden yellow, and the tip of the beak coral red.
- 2Fill the lower beak with orange, leaving the small open gap inside the beak white.
- 3Color the body charcoal gray and the wing and tail feathers sky blue, with the darker blue on the lower wing for depth.
- 4Color the large leaves on the left and right bright green and yellow green, then add the bottom leaves in bright green and dark green.
- 5Fill the hibiscus flowers with coral red and the berry with dark red, and color the branch brown with the feet rings in sky blue.
- 6Optional: Leave the eye whites and the small highlights white, and add a little extra shading with a darker shade of each color to make it pop.
