Tropical Parrot with Hibiscus and a Tiny Rainbow

Coloring guide
Perched on a thick branch, a cheerful parrot has big round eyes and an open, smiling beak, with its long tail feathers trailing down the page. Layered wing feathers and a fluffy head crest give you lots of small sections to color. Two large hibiscus flowers bloom on either side of the bird, and big split-edged monstera leaves and smooth pointed leaves fill the background. A small rainbow curves over a puffy cloud in the upper right corner. Bold, clear shapes make this free printable useful for preschoolers and early elementary kids working on pencil control. Bright red, blue and yellow suit the wings, soft pink or orange the hibiscus petals, and a new color for each rainbow band. It also fits a classroom unit on tropical animals and plants, or a rainy-day art table. More like this: explore the Rainbow, City and Solar System & Space coloring page collections.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the parrot's head, belly and main body with bright yellow, leaving the small white patch on the belly and the eye whites untouched.
- 2Fill the upper wing, the red feathers near the top of the wing and the big hibiscus flowers with scarlet red, and add a few tangerine orange strokes on the side feathers.
- 3Color the lower wing feathers and the long tail feathers in sky blue, keeping the tail tips in their natural shape.
- 4Fill the beak with golden yellow, then color the monstera leaves, side leaves and hibiscus leaves with leaf green and forest green, leaving the leaf holes and white veins empty.
- 5Color the tree branch with warm brown, the bands around it with light gray, and the rainbow stripes in red, green and blue, keeping the cloud white.
- 6Optional: Add a second, darker shade of the same color along the edges of the leaves and feathers to make them look more lively.
