Two Horses Sipping at a Forest Stream

Two horses stand shoulder to shoulder at the edge of a shallow stream, their heads dipped low so their noses barely touch the water and send out little ripples. Long, flowing manes fall forward over their necks and the tails sweep down behind. The scene has lots going on: flat stones and pebbles in the water, cattails and tall grasses up front, and leafy plants along the bank. Further back, the stream winds between tall trees and rows of pines toward faraway mountains and a few puffy clouds. Big shapes sit next to fine lines, so it works well for kids who like a bit of variety. Warm chestnut and dappled gray coats look great against cool blue water and layers of green in the trees.
