A friendly young tiger walks through the grass here, one front paw stepping ahead and its head turned a little to the side. The big round eyes, small rounded ears, whiskers and tiny smile make it look gentle and curious. Its long tail curls into a hook with stripes all the way around, and curved stripes cover the body, legs and cheeks. Tall grass tufts fill the corners, and a few small rocks and pebbles rest near its feet. Lines are clean and the stripe sections are fairly roomy, so preschoolers and early elementary kids should do well with this free printable. Orange for the body with deep brown or black stripes is a classic pick. Fresh greens and soft grays can finish the grass and rocks. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the big body, head, and legs of the tiger with tiger orange, leaving the white stripes, belly, and cheeks unpainted.
- 2Color the cream areas like the belly, chin, cheeks, and lower paws with warm cream, and fill the inner ears with rose pink.
- 3Add the tail stripes and the forehead and body stripes in tiger orange, then fill the tail tip and the nose area with charcoal black.
- 4Paint the tall grass blades on both sides and the grass at the bottom with leaf green, leaving a few thin light streaks showing.
- 5Color the rocks in the corners and the small stones with stone gray, and keep the background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker orange along the sides of the body and legs for a bit of depth, and leave the eye highlights white.
