Watermelon Car on a Winding Country Road
Coloring guide
Half a watermelon on four wheels rolls along a curvy country road. The car has big round eyes, an open smiling mouth, wavy stripes down the rind, and seeds scattered along the cut edge of the fruit. Inside the hollowed top there's a seat and a steering wheel, just waiting for a driver. The road bends past grassy hills with dashed lines down the middle, plus grass tufts and round bushes in the corners, and three puffy clouds drift above. Clean, large outlines keep it easy for little hands, and it prints well as a free page for a quiet afternoon. Use deep and light green stripes on the rind, pink or red for the inside, and sky blue behind the clouds. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the rolling hills, the grass tufts and the wide countryside in grass green, and leave the clouds white.
- 2Fill the bushes in the top left, top right and bottom corners with forest green.
- 3Color the winding road in light gray, keeping the dashes on the road white.
- 4Paint the watermelon: use grass green for the rind, forest green for the dark stripes, pale lime along the top rim, and tomato red for the juicy flesh, leaving the seeds white.
- 5Add the car details: tomato red tires, golden yellow wheel centers and seat, and sky blue hubs, axles and steering wheel.
- 6Finish the face: leave the eye whites white, color the open mouth dark slate gray, the tongue pink, and add a thin pale yellow strip along the top edge. Optional: add a slightly darker shade of green along the bottom of the watermelon for depth.
