Beach Day Hedgehog Building a Sandcastle
Coloring guide
This smiling hedgehog sits in the sand, patting the top of a sandcastle with one paw and holding a small shovel in the other. The castle has a little arched doorway and a notched tower on top. Next to the hedgehog sits an empty bucket with a handle, a scallop-style seashell lies in the bottom left corner, and a starfish with dotted detail rests in the bottom right. Wavy lines behind them show the sea rolling toward the shore. With big round eyes, small round ears and a long coat of spiky quills, the hedgehog has plenty to color. Warm browns and tans suit the quills, soft yellow the sand, and bright red or blue the bucket. It's a free printable for a summer afternoon, a rainy day or a classroom beach theme. This fits right in with our Hedgehog coloring pages — see also Puppies and Cats.

- 1Fill the hedgehog's spiky back and the spines along its side with chocolate brown, leaving the gaps between spikes as you go.
- 2Color the hedgehog's head, belly, arms, body and feet with light tan, keeping the two big eyes' whites bright white.
- 3Paint the sea waves on both sides of the beach with sky blue, then color the sand bucket with royal blue.
- 4Color the sandcastle's top with butter yellow, its door with golden yellow, and the shovel handle and blade with cherry red.
- 5Fill the seashell with coral pink, the starfish with tangerine orange, the inner ear with soft pink, and the pebble with light gray.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of chocolate brown or royal blue along the edges of the spines and waves to give them depth.
