On a grassy patch, a smiling baby hedgehog stands on all fours and leans in toward a large daisy with rounded petals. It has big sparkly eyes, one round ear, a small dark nose, and jagged spines that sweep back over its head and body. The daisy sits on a tall stem with two big leaves on the right. Along the bottom you'll spot tufts of grass and two small five-petal flowers. Thick outlines and roomy shapes keep things easy for little hands, and the spiky back is a nice way to practice careful strokes. Brown and tan work well for the spines, sunny yellow for the daisy, and fresh greens for leaves and grass. Print the free PDF at home, whatever your age. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the hedgehog's spiky back with chocolate brown, using short strokes that follow the spikes.
- 2Color the hedgehog's face, body, ear and legs with peach beige, leaving the eye white unpainted.
- 3Color the daisy's center golden yellow, then fill both leaves and the grass tuft behind the front leg with leaf green.
- 4Color the small flowers at the bottom right sky blue, leaving the daisy petals and the other small flower white.
- 5Optional: add a few darker brown strokes along the lower edge of the spines for depth.
