Fern Frond Ladybug Crawling Up the Stem

Coloring guide
A ladybug with big shiny eyes and a happy smile crawls along the curved stem of a large fern leaf on this printable page. The round shell is covered in big circle spots, and you can see the two curly antennae and the jointed little legs holding on. The fern fills the whole page, with scalloped leaflets fanning out on both sides and a second frond curling toward the top right corner. The spots are roomy for small hands, and the leafy edges give older kids some detail work. Red with black spots on the shell works well, and layering light to dark greens on the fern will make the ladybug stand out. It's a calm, nature page for a quiet afternoon at home or school, and it's a free PDF. Add this to your Ladybug coloring page collection, alongside Crab and Monkey.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the ladybug's wings ladybug red, leaving the thin line between the two wing halves unfilled.
- 2Fill the fern leaflets with leaf green, and use dark green for the main stem and its shaded edges, keeping the thin light lines inside the leaves white.
- 3Color the ladybug's head, antennae and legs charcoal gray, and add light gray to the leg joints and the small paws near the body.
- 4Fill the wing spots and the dark outline areas with black, keeping the bright eye whites and the small shine highlights white.
- 5Optional: add a little extra dark green along the lower edges of the leaves or charcoal gray shading on the head to add depth.
