Four Wolves Howling at a Cratered Full Moon
Coloring guide
In a grassy meadow, four wolves sit with their heads tipped back, howling at a big full moon covered in craters. A tall adult wolf is in the middle, two more wolves sit beside it, and a small pup sits at the far right, every mouth open mid-howl. Rugged mountain peaks, puffy swirling clouds and tall pine trees on both sides rise behind them, with a bit of water in the distance. Tufts of grass, rocks and little flowers fill the foreground. The fluffy fur and moon craters give kids lots of detail to color. Soft grays and warm browns fit the wolves, and a pale yellow moon will stand out against a deep blue sky. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big round moon with golden yellow, and leave the small crater spots white for a sparkly look.
- 2Fill the sky with sky blue, then use light blue for the lake, the water and the mountains, and pale blue for the snowy mountain peaks.
- 3Color the pine trees with forest green and the grass with yellow green and leaf green, adding the rocks and flowers last.
- 4Color the four wolves' bodies and legs with cool gray, their heads, chests and paws with cream, and the big wolf's ear with light brown.
- 5Leave the fluffy clouds white so they stand out against the blue sky.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading to the wolves' bodies and the pine trees with a deeper tone to make them look fuller.
