This cheerful groundhog sits upright on a big rock, its two front paws tucked together against a fluffy belly. It has round ears, big sparkly eyes, a little nose, whiskers and an open smile with one tiny tooth showing. Daisy-style flowers with round centers bloom around the rock between tall blades of grass. Two snow-capped peaks and a gently curving hill fill the background. With large shapes and clean lines, this free printable suits preschoolers and early elementary kids well. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the whole groundhog body, belly and both paws with caramel brown, leaving the eyes, teeth and white flower petals for later.
- 2Color the inner ears and the tongue with coral pink, then add the dark eyes and nose.
- 3Paint the two mountains sky blue, leave the left snowcap white, and color the right snowcap icy blue.
- 4Color the rolling hills and the grass tufts around the flowers with lime green and olive green, using leaf green for the grass at the bottom.
- 5Fill the large rock at the bottom with stone gray, keeping the flower petals white.
- 6Optional: Color the flower centers golden yellow and pale yellow, then add a few darker strokes on the fur for depth.
