Hedgehog Family Parade: Mama and Three Babies by the Fence

A big, smiling hedgehog walks to the right along a stony dirt path, and three smaller babies follow close behind in a tidy line. Mama's back is covered in short, spiky quills, which is a fun place for kids to practice small pencil strokes. Behind the family stands a wooden fence with chunky posts and rails, and tall grass blades poke up in front of it. On the right there's a cluster of flowers with round centers and rounded petals, and more grass fills the bottom corners. Small pebbles and stepping stones dot the path. Browns and tans suit the quills, soft pink would look good on the noses and petals, and bright greens can go on the grass. This one is free to print, and it's worth keeping spare copies. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the fence posts and rails using wood tan, and fill the grass blades in the front and corners with bright green and lime green.
- 2Color the big hedgehog's belly and feet with light peach, then fill its back spines with chestnut brown.
- 3Color the three baby hedgehogs: light peach for their faces and bellies, and chestnut brown or warm gray for their spiky backs.
- 4Fill the path pebbles with slate blue and the flower bushes and leaves with bright green and lime green, leaving the flower petals white.
- 5Optional: Add darker chestnut brown lines on the spines and a small touch of grass green in the bushes to add depth.
- 6Leave the eye whites, flower petals, and background path white, then add tiny dark details last.
