In this sweet sky scene, a smiling ladybug with two curly antennae peeks over the rim of a woven basket. Rather than a regular balloon, a big veined leaf floats overhead, and four thin ropes hold the basket in place. The spotted wing is easy to see, and little hands grip the basket's edge. Three small birds fly around the balloon, along with several puffy clouds. Rolling hills stretch across the bottom, with large daisy-style flowers and smaller blossoms in the front corners. Young kids can handle the big leaf and wide petals, while the basket weave and spots give older kids more to do. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big balloon leaf and the rolling hills with lime green, leaving the sky background white.
- 2Color the bushes, the flower leaves and the grass tufts with grass green.
- 3Paint the clouds pale blue and the three birds sky blue.
- 4Color the basket with warm brown and light tan in a checkered weave pattern, keeping the rope lines white.
- 5Fill the ladybug shell with bright red and the head with charcoal gray, leaving the eye whites and the little tooth white.
- 6Finish the flowers with rose pink petals and golden yellow centers, add violet purple to the right flower, and color the black spots and feet black. Optional: Add a little darker shading on the leaf edges and hill bottoms for depth.
