Draw a Snowflake From an Eight-Bar Star

Coloring guide
Six small drawings are arranged in two columns and three rows, showing a snowflake being built one stage at a time. The first step is just a simple star of eight long, thin bars crossing at the center. The second step adds a small notched shape in the middle. Next come layered zigzag outlines around the center, and then small branching angles and little side tabs along each arm. The fifth drawing is the cleaned up snowflake with only the final outline. The last one is the same snowflake filled in with light blue, with a couple of tiny sparkles. Try this free printable as a drawing lesson: have kids copy each step in order on their own paper, then color their finished snowflake in blues and silvers. It also works well for talking about symmetry, since every arm matches the others.
