Moon-Gazing Cat on a Window Ledge

Coloring guide
A little kitten sits on a window ledge, back mostly turned to us, head tilted up toward a big crescent moon in the night sky. Three small stars twinkle nearby, and a horizontal window bar crosses the middle of the glass. Next to the cat on the sill is a potted plant with three five-petal flowers and two leaves. The kitten has whiskers, pointed ears and a long tail that curls over the front edge of the ledge. Bold, clean outlines and open spaces work well for young children who are still building crayon control. Deep navy or purple would make a lovely night sky, with soft yellow for the moon and stars and pink or orange petals. It's a free printable for classroom time or a rainy day. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the night sky: color the window panes navy blue, working around the moon, stars, flowers and cat.
- 2Fill the window frame, crossbars and window ledge with wood brown, leaving the ledge edges neat.
- 3Color the cat light orange, then the crescent moon and all three stars golden yellow.
- 4Paint the flower pot terracotta orange, and color both leaves leaf green.
- 5Add the flowers: coral pink for the top flowers, lavender purple for the left flower and sky blue for the right flower, leaving the flower centers white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading with the same colors along the cat's back and under the pot to give it depth.
