Ladybug and Snail Sharing Secrets on a Log

Coloring guide
Face to face, almost nose to nose, a smiling ladybug and a snail sit on a big log as if swapping a secret. The ladybug has round-tipped antennae, big eyes and a spotted shell with large and small circles mixed together. The snail has two tall eyestalks and a swirly spiral shell. The log in the middle shows wavy wood grain, a knot and circular rings on the cut end. Tall grass blades frame both sides at the top, and two spotted mushrooms sit in the bottom corners with grass tufts around them. Large shapes suit little hands and chunky crayons. Red wings on the ladybug, a soft orange or yellow spiral for the snail and warm brown for the log would look good. A free printable for a quiet afternoon or a nature lesson. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the ladybug's wings, the big mushroom caps, the small mushroom cap, and the ladybug's antenna balls with bright red, leaving the round spots white.
- 2Color the snail's body and head with golden yellow, and the knot on the log with the same golden yellow.
- 3Color the ladybug's head, belly, and legs with dark gray, then fill its wing spots with charcoal black.
- 4Color the snail's shell with copper orange, the log and its end rings with light tan and tan brown, and the mushroom stems with pale cream, keeping the eye whites and highlights white.
- 5Fill the grass blades with leaf green and lime green, and color the grass at the bottom with dark brown for a bit of earthy contrast.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along the edges of the log and the ladybug's shell to give the drawing more depth.
