Little Elf Flying on an Owl Under the Moon
Coloring guide
Soaring above the treetops on a big-eyed owl, a smiling young elf with pointed ears and a floppy pointed hat holds onto the owl's head with both hands. A flowing scarf or cape with a round pendant at the neck trails behind. The owl's wings are spread wide, so there are plenty of layered feathers to color, plus a fluffy chest and little talons tucked underneath. A crescent moon and three small stars hang in the night sky. Rounded bushes and pointy evergreens line the bottom of the page. Deep blues and purples look great on the wings, and bright green on the elf's hat will pop against the sky. Save it as a free PDF to add to your coloring page collection. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background greens: color the bushes and trees in leaf green and dark green, leaving the moon and stars for later.
- 2Fill the owl's body, tail and wings with light brown and chestnut brown, adding darker brown on the wing feathers for depth.
- 3Color the elf's cape in forest green and the elf's tunic and sleeves in lime green, with the hat in leaf green.
- 4Paint the elf's hair in bright orange and peach orange, and fill the owl's face and the elf's face in cream, leaving the owl's big eyes white with a black dot for the pupils.
- 5Color the owl's beak and claws in golden yellow, the stars in lemon yellow, and the moon's outline details if you like.
- 6Optional: Add a little pale tan on the wing edges and the elf's hands for a soft highlight.
