The star of this page is a big long-necked dinosaur stretching its neck high to nibble a cluster of leaves from a tall tree. It has a friendly smile, a round body, four sturdy legs with toenails and a long tail curling along the ground. Rolling hills, rounded bushes, three fluffy clouds and little tufts of grass are scattered behind it. On the right, the tree has a thick, textured trunk and lots of leaves to fill in. Large open areas keep it simple for younger children, and the leaves and bark give older kids some detail. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sky-blue clouds: color the three clouds in the sky with a soft sky blue, leaving a little white shine on each.
- 2Fill the dinosaur's long body, neck, and head with grass green, then color the legs and tail the same way.
- 3Color the tree trunk and branches with bark brown, leaving a few thin white streaks for light.
- 4Use sage green for the two hills in the background, then color the bushes with forest green and grass green.
- 5Fill the treetop with grass green and forest green, then add lime green to the leaves hanging near the dinosaur's mouth.
- 6Finish with lime green on the grass patches, leaving the hooves, the eye, and the white streaks on the trunk uncolored. Optional: add a few darker strokes on the dinosaur's body with forest green for depth.
