Roaring T-Rex Dinosaur by a Smoking Volcano

Coloring guide
This tyrannosaurus rex is having a great time. It stands on two legs with its mouth stretched open in a big roar, showing rows of pointy teeth and a long tongue, and its large round eye keeps the whole thing friendly. Spots run over the head, back and tail, and the belly has curved stripes just waiting for color. A volcano puffs a fluffy cloud of smoke in the background, with a palm tree, rounded rocks, small hills and spiky grass tufts around it. Bold, clean lines make this free printable a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or markers. You could go bright green with orange spots and a pale yellow belly, then use red and orange on the volcano so it stands out against the grey smoke. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: fill the sky on the right and around the palm tree with sky blue, add teal blue to the upper right corner, and color the smoke cloud light gray.
- 2Color the volcano chocolate brown and its lava top bright orange, then fill the hills and bushes with deep green and emerald green.
- 3Color the dinosaur's legs, arm and head crest leaf green, and fill the belly, chest and throat with pale yellow, leaving the body outline clean.
- 4Fill the inside of the open mouth with dark red and the tongue with coral pink, and keep the teeth and the eye white so they stand out.
- 5Add the details: yellow green and lime green stripes on the tail, amber orange spots on the neck, back and tail, olive green for the low bush, medium gray for the rocks, and chocolate brown for the palm trunk. Leave the claws cream white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading with the same colors along the edges of the body and the rocks to make the dinosaur look rounder.
