Mermaid Riding on a Whale's Back Under the Sea

Underwater, a long-haired mermaid leans forward on the back of a big, smiling whale. She wears a shell top, a beaded necklace and a bracelet, with a shell and a starfish tucked in her wavy hair. Her scaly tail curls up behind her, and the whale's tail fins rise on the right. Small striped fish swim all around and bubbles drift upward. The sea floor is crowded with seaweed, tall coral, tube sponges, scallop shells, spiral shells and a starfish. The whale's belly lines and spots, along with the mermaid's scales, give kids lots of small areas to fill in. Soft purples and teals would suit the scales, and bright orange or yellow will make the fish stand out. This free printable is nice for a quiet afternoon or an ocean-themed class. This fits right in with our Whale coloring pages — see also Dolphin and Shark.
