Mother and Baby Elephant Share Love

Coloring guide
A big mother elephant and her little calf stroll side by side through the grass, with mom's trunk curled gently around the baby's trunk like a hug. Three hearts float over their heads, and both elephants have big happy eyes and soft smiles. Short tufts of grass sit around their feet, a few bushes stand behind them, and a flat-topped acacia tree is on the right. Mom has long eyelashes, and both tails end in a small tuft. Large ears, wrinkled legs and wide open spaces leave lots of room for crayons or markers, whether you're a beginner or a careful colorer. Soft blue-gray suits the elephants, pink works for the hearts and inner ears, and mixed greens and browns fit the tree and grass. The free PDF prints at home in a snap. This fits right in with our Love coloring pages — see also Christmas (Adult) and Friendship.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the bodies, heads, legs and trunks of both elephants with soft gray, leaving the eye whites and small shine spots white.
- 2Fill the large ears of both elephants with pale pink.
- 3Color the tree canopy and the two bushes with leafy green, then add light green to the grass tufts at the bottom.
- 4Use warm brown for the tree trunk and branches, keeping the thin branch highlights white.
- 5Color the three hearts above the elephants with bright red.
- 6Finish the toenails on all the feet with cream and color the tail dark charcoal. Optional: add a slightly darker soft gray along the bellies and under the legs for depth.
