Mushroom Perch for a Ladybug and a Butterfly

Coloring guide
Up on top of a big spotted mushroom sits a smiling ladybug with sparkly eyes and curly antennae, watching a friendly butterfly flutter by. A dashed line behind the butterfly shows the path it flew. In the background are a pine tree and soft, puffy bushes, and the ground around the mushroom stem is filled with fern leaves, grass tufts and a couple of small rocks. Spots on the ladybug's shell and the mushroom cap are big enough that little hands can color them easily. Red for the ladybug and something different like purple or orange for the mushroom cap keeps the two from blending together. Free to print, and a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids who love nature scenes. This fits right in with our Ladybug coloring pages — see also Puppies and Cats.

- 2Color the mushroom stem and the ladybug's head cream, then add pale tan and warm tan to the gills under the cap.
- 3Color the ladybug's shell spots, legs and feet dark gray or black, keeping a small white shine on the legs.
- 4Use dark green and green for the pine tree and ferns, and light green for the bushes and grass around the mushroom.
- 5Color the butterfly's wings golden yellow and orange, and fill the rocks at the bottom with light gray.
- 6Optional: add a little orange brown shading along the edge of the cap and the gills for depth.
