Here a big crested dinosaur lowers its long neck to sip from a still pond, with detailed ripples spreading out around its snout. It looks like a Parasaurolophus, thanks to the curved crest on its head, the round eye and the stripes down its back. Its feet are planted on smooth stones along the water's edge. A smoking volcano rises behind it next to a smaller mountain, and a waterfall tumbles through thick jungle. Palm trees frame the top corners while big ferns and leafy plants cover the foreground. From the back stripes to the layered treetops, there's lots to color. Olive green and tan suit the dinosaur nicely, with bright orange stripes along the back and soft blues for the pond and waterfall. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the dinosaur's body, neck, head and tail in grass green, leaving the eye area and the bright crest edge white.
- 2Fill the orange-brown back stripes and spines with orange and golden brown, and color the tan-brown palm trunks next.
- 3Color the jungle foliage and bushes in lime green and deep green, and the distant hills in periwinkle blue and pine green.
- 4Paint the volcano and mountains in slate gray, and the rocks and stones at the water's edge in light gray.
- 5Fill the river and pond with sky blue, adding the waterfall on the right, and leave the sky and palm fronds white.
- 6Optional: add a little shading with a darker shade of grass green along the dinosaur's underside to give it more depth.
