This cheerful peacock sits on a thick, knobby tree branch while its long tail feathers hang down below. Each feather has an oval eye pattern that's fun to fill in. The peacock wears a small crown of tuft feathers, a big smile, and scalloped wing feathers. Two little chirping birds perch on the branch, one on each side, and a third one flies above its head. Large veined leaves fill the corners and hang from the branch, so there are plenty of shapes for kids to color. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the branch brown and all the leaves grass green, leaving the small shiny streaks on the branch white.
- 2Fill the peacock's tail feathers with leaf green, then add a few forest green feathers for depth.
- 3Color the peacock's body and neck in bright blue, and the wings in teal green and royal blue.
- 4Paint the birds: the top bird in coral pink, the left bird in lemon yellow, and the right bird in light sky blue, with the beaks in golden yellow.
- 5Add the tail eyes: fill the centers with navy blue, dark navy blue, ocean blue, and sky blue, and color one tail feather in the lower middle light gray. Leave the eye rings white.
- 6Optional: add light shading by pressing a little harder along the edges of the feathers and leaves to make them look more rounded.
