Pouncing Wolf Pup Crouched in the Grass

Coloring guide
Ready to pounce, this cheerful wolf pup bends low on its front legs while its fluffy tail curls high in the air. The big round eyes sparkle, the mouth hangs open in a happy grin with the tongue showing, and the pointed ears stand tall. Tufts of fur frame the face, chest and body, so little hands get plenty of detail to color. A few small clumps of grass sit around the paws, and the background stays plain white. Bold, clean outlines and large open areas suit preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft grays and blues work for the fur, with a pale cream chest and tail tip, a pink tongue and bright green grass. Grab the free PDF and print it at home whenever the mood strikes. This fits right in with our Wolves coloring pages — see also Bat and Sea Animals.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- caramel brown
- cream
- soft pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the big areas of brown fur with caramel brown: the head and face, the fluffy tail, and the back body behind the ears.
- 2Fill the chest fur, both front paws, and the lower part of the body with cream to give the pup its light belly and paws.
- 3Color the inside of the right ear and the open tongue with soft pink.
- 4Leave the two big eye whites and the light patch on the right leg uncolored so they stay bright white.
- 5Optional: For a bit of depth, add a few short strokes of a slightly darker brown along the edges of the tail and the back of the head.
