A happy baby squirrel crouches in a patch of dirt with a big acorn in one paw. The other paw rests on the ground near a small hole. Its eyes are wide and shiny, its mouth is open in a smile, and its tall ears have little tufts on top. The big fluffy tail curls up behind its back. On the right sits a ribbed pumpkin with a curly stem, and grass tufts, small dirt mounds, a maple leaf and an oak leaf fill in the ground below. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the squirrel's big fluffy tail, head, body and legs in burnt orange, leaving the eye whites white.
- 2Fill the pumpkin sections in bright orange, and color the acorn nut in caramel brown and the acorn cap in dark brown.
- 3Color the squirrel's belly and chest patch in cream, then add pink to the open mouth and light pink inside the ears.
- 4Use golden yellow for the maple leaf and red for the fallen leaf, then add bright green to the grass tufts.
- 5Color the dirt mound and hole in tan brown and the pebbles in warm gray.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker strokes of burnt orange along the tail and body to suggest fur texture.
