Sleepy Whale Dreaming Under the Moon and Stars

Coloring guide
Content and smiling, this round whale floats on gentle wavy lines with its eyes closed and lashes showing. A little fountain sprays from the blowhole, the tail flips up behind, and a small side fin rests near the waves. Striped lines run along the belly, giving kids a nice spot for detail. High above, a big crescent moon and three stars of different sizes fill the night sky. Thick, clean outlines and large open spaces make this free printable easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and it also makes a calm bedtime activity. Deep navy and purple will make the whale stand out, and pale yellow on the moon and stars gives a cozy nighttime glow. Light blue and teal would suit the waves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the whale's body and tail, plus the waves along the left, right and bottom edges, with sky blue.
- 2Fill the whale's belly stripes, the lower fin area and the middle wave band with pale blue.
- 3Color the three water spout drops above the whale's head with aqua teal, leaving the small white gap at the base of the spout unpainted.
- 4Fill the three stars with golden yellow, and keep the crescent moon, the closed eye and the background white.
- 5Optional: add light strokes of a slightly darker sky blue on the whale's body to give it a softly shaded look.
