Recycling Boy and Three Bins for Earth Day
Coloring guide
A boy with tousled hair is dropping an aluminum can into the first of three recycling bins, and his big grin says he likes being a helper. Every bin has a recycling arrows symbol on the front, and each one has a different opening: round, rectangular and oval. On the grass in front of the bins wait three more things to sort, a plastic water bottle, a folded newspaper and a glass jar. Fluffy bushes and small grass tufts sit behind him. Younger kids will like the bold, clean outlines, and the bottle, newspaper and jar are a good way to start a chat about sorting. Blue, green and yellow bins would make each one look like its own recycling stream. This free printable is great for all ages. - 2Color the left bin golden yellow, the middle bin royal blue, and the right bin leaf green, including their lids and rims.
- 3Paint the boy's shirt sky blue, his hair chestnut brown, and his face, arms and ears warm peach.
- 4Fill the soda can with bright red, the boy's open mouth with coral pink, the plastic bottle and glass jar with pale aqua, and the newspaper with light gray.
- 5Darken the bin openings with charcoal black, navy blue and dark green, and leave the white recycling arrows and the boy's eye whites uncolored.
- 6Optional: add light shading along one side of each bin and the boy's shirt to make them look rounder.
